Summit Modified Nationals Joins DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the Eighth Straight Year

Eighth annual tour for DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will see teams have a chance to race in 33 shows

CONCORD, NC — Dec. 7, 2017 — For the eighth consecutive year, the cars and stars of the DIRTcar UMP Modifieds will join the most grueling and intimidating tour in short track racing. The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will mirror the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour in 2018 by joining their DIRTcar Late Model counterparts for 28 races in 32 days in seven states. Then the Modifieds will conclude their own version of the Summer Nationals with five additional events held as part of the 29th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway on Friday-Saturday, July 27-28, 2018. The top Modified drivers in the country will chase after a minimum of $1,000 each night and a $5,000 prize for winning the 2018 Summit Modified Nationals Championship as well as bonuses and contingencies totaling almost $50,000.

Mike Harrison wins the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway to become the 2017 Summit Modified Nationals Series Champion

FAIRBURY, IL — July 29, 2017 — Mike Harrison gets a huge win in the final race of the season at Fairbury Speedway to become the season points leader. Jeffrey Ledford led the race early on, but would even tually give way to Nick Hoffman. Harrison had to make up several positions in order to catch up to Hoffman, who he was finally able to steal the lead from after battling for a few laps. Hoffman would end up finishing third after Mike McKinney passed him for the second place finish. The 80 points that Harrison was awarded for first place would end up putting him just three points ahead of the previous series points leader, Nick Hoffman, making him the 2017 series winner.

Tait Davenport, Clayton Miller, Ray Bollinger, and Nick Hoffman Each Grab a Feature Win at Prairie Dirt Classic

FAIRBURY, IL — July 28, 2017 — After a packed night of four feature races, Tait Davenport, Clayton Miller, Ray Bolllinger, and Nick Hoffman each took a trip to victory lane for winning their respective features. Both Davenport and Miller recorded their first Summit Modified Nationals wins of the 2017 season. Bollinger's win marked his fourth on the season while Hoffman's win was his seventh.

Brian Ruhlman Gains a First Place Finish at Oakshade Speedway

WAUSEON, OH — July 15, 2017 — Brian Ruhlman placed first at Oakshade Speedway, giving him his first feature win in the Summit Modified Nationals season. Finishing behind him were Taylor Cook at second place and John McClure at third place.

Taylor Cook Holds Off Nick Hoffman to Win at Oakshade Speedway

WAUSEON, OH — July 14, 2017 — Taylor Cook claimed his first Summit Modified Nationals feature win of 2017 after an exciting race at Oakshade Speedway. Cook stole the lead from Nick Hoffman and never allowed him to take it back. Hoffman was never far behind, but ended up placing second with Brain Ruhlman behind him at third.
